OC Health Fair

The OC Health Fair, facilitated by The One Community (OC), is a local community initiative aimed at providing comprehensive consultations and health education. Our primary objective is to assist individuals who lack insurance coverage and often face economic hardship, living below the poverty line. By delivering essential healthcare services to our community, we strive to bridge the gap in healthcare accessibility. These services encompass a wide range of checkups, including blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose, and dental examinations. Each year, M.E.M.O. collaborates with esteemed organizations such as the Vietnamese Physician Association of Southern California (VPASC), Lestonnac Free Clinic, Vietnamese Cancer Society, and CalOptima to organize a dedicated health fair for the residents of Orange County. In 2019, the OC Health Fair took place at Freedom Hall in Fountain Valley and successfully provided care for approximately 1,500 patients.

We encourage our members to engage in Project Awaken, an initiative crafted in response to the pandemic. The primary goal of this program is to foster social interactions and establish connections with patients who are isolated in nursing facilities and retirement homes. Project Awaken encompasses all chapters, offering volunteers a chance to directly interact with elderly individuals and patients with dementia in these settings. By facilitating invaluable social engagement, our objective is to cultivate connection and elevate the overall well-being of isolated patients.

Project Awaken

One of our volunteer events was dedicated to creating hygiene kits for local women's shelters. With the collective effort of our dedicated volunteers, we assembled 100 hygiene kits with essential items to support the shelters. Each kit was carefully packed with essential items such as toiletries, sanitary products, and personal care items. The event fostered a sense of camaraderie and purpose as our volunteers worked diligently. The hygiene kits will be distributed to local women's shelters, providing not only practical necessities but also a gesture of care and support.
